I Love Being Me: in my Place, my Home

This cinematic virtual reality film presents a dialogue between a Guangzhou veteran of the Second Sino-Japanese War and his granddaughter, a Hong Kong student at Sun Yat-sen University. Set during her summer visit to Guangzhou, the conversation, in Cantonese with Chinese and English subtitles, contrasts life before, during, and after the war. Using realistic props, costumes, and scenes, the first-person narrative immerses viewers in a personal reflection on history and identity, evoking collective memories of the war and encouraging introspection on personal identity.
